Not just a rarely-seen Cutlass Supreme coupe, but a manual Cutlass Supreme coupe
If I had the space, I’d buy this because why not. If it’s not the only one, it has to be close to the only one.

It’s got sport suspension too- I think that was part of that “international series” package. Between that, the digi dash, and the manual that’s a pretty spiffy find.
Cool badge.

I believe you are correct. I love finding oddball 80s/90s GMs like this

If I had the space for that and wasn’t 3000+ miles away I would buy it just for the novelty

That must be the best set of pictures I’ve seen for a car under a grand too.

I owned an 88 cutlass supreme coupe, and I didn’t know they came in manual.

I had that package. The whole shebang. I’m shocked they came from the factory with a 5 speed.

Hmm, this was back in the day when both Pontiac and Olds were trying to seem more European, and they offered manuals on a lot of their lineup (I had a Sunbird, a buddy had a Grand Am, both sticks). I recall them offering it on this and the Grand Prix, and I’ve seen a GP with a stick, but not this.
I don’t see how you could go wrong with this for $1k???

I don’t think I could go wrong money-wise, I just have no space

I’d buy this or something like this as a car to use to teach my friends and other folks to drive stick.

I read the other comments about cars having manuals back then and that seems right to me but that shift lever looks like it’s sticking out of an auto tranny gear selector? Looks kinda long and narrow to me (yes, what she said ).

The auto console looks different enough that I’d say it is indeed a 5 speed. Plus you can see the edge of the clutch pedal in some of the pictures

I don’t have the space and I’m having a hard time stopping myself from making an offer

Sorry — I wasn’t clear. I think it looks like a swap. Hence the unusual looking fit (to my eye at the time) of the selector in it’s housing.
It’s an odd duck no matter how you look at it. I just found the lack of details in the posting and the fitment of the shifter housing to be off enough to mention.
(Honestly: I’m just trying to keep up with the cool kids. Post up a LaFerrari at a Blockbuster store and people will argue over the minivan’s trim package three lots back past the photo )

Talking of weird Olds coupes, I was watching Sudden Impact (one of the Dirty Harry movies) a few nights ago, and one of the characters drives an ‘82 Olds Firenza hatchback:
Pretty neat.

The 5-speed was an option with the HO Quad 4, until it got replaced by the 3.4L DOHC in the early 90s - I think it stayed as an option for a few years after that. Not many takers, but the 5 speed/3.4L combo actually had a higher HP rating than the auto.

Ohh gotcha. Yeah it does look odd, it reminds me of how the manual shifter in the Fiero and C4 Corvette look. I just checked Wikipedia, apparently this one would be the very rare Muncie 5 speed, while later manuals are all Getrags

The crazy thing is, it’s a J-body with a lot of parts commonality with Cavaliers up to after 2000, so it wouldn’t be hard to keep one on the road. At all.

Dealership I was at Sold one new, but convertible 2+2, back in the day. Very rare.
Buddy of mine had a GTP Grand Prix that was manual. Nobody believed it was factory until we looked it up. Never was an option either, but it was factory.
